So boys if you are reading, please don't get bored, you may pick up a thing or two about us that you didn't know about. So patience.

Today, as a rare sighting at my workplace, as I was walking to the cafeteria, I came across this really tall, stylishly dressed girl. Now, if you lived amongst people, who wore jeans and sweatshirts everyday in a large technology company and you suddenly noticed anyone even remotely put together, you would label them a fashionista. As I have been called. Mind you, as I say this, due to unfortunate circumstances, I have been wearing sneakers to work. *Gasp*. I know, I know. But my life is in shambles right now, and my one pair of CK heels broke and hear I am walking in the horrid rain in Portland, and taking public transport in my tennis shoes. I am ranting now. But, I am sure you can sympathise.

Any way, getting back to the topic. This tall girl, was walking in front of me, and I was even making a mental note of what she was wearing, I noticed her walking funny. And staring South, I realized, she was wearing 4 inch heels that didnt fit her well, and she wobbled.

Ladies, ladies, ladies. My mantra has always been "style before comfort". But if you are going to look like a horse trotting in those uncomfortable shoes, instead of looking confident and sassy, maybe, just maybe its time to switch to "chic and confident" instead of wobble-wobble? Now, I'll concede that there is no replacement to wearing high heels. They elongate your look, give you a better posture, and overall make your legs look sexy like nothing else can. Men, however, with their diminished observation powers, however perk up when they see a pair of stilletoes. A stilleto to them says many things - sexy, confident, sassy, and bold. Yes. Not a wallflower bold. And if you went the other way - as in platform stilletoes or transparent stilletoes a Mrs. Hulk hogan with platinum blonde highlights and fake boobs, then we have another blog post coming up.

But you get my drift.

Here's my advice. First, there are some ground rules to follow when you buy heels especially if you are a new heel wearer. Second, for all others, invest in one good pair of shoes instead of buying 2 bad ones.

And third, stand tall.

Hello world!

Its a new year folks. New year = new ideas = new beginnings blah blah. And a new blog!

Some of you may be the old faithful just revisiting out of curiosity. So, as promised you can still find my old content somewhere in the interweb, as long as you have some key words to search for it. I will let you be the web detective and figure it out.

So, why the new blog? The new blog because I am now interested in focusing on issues that make me think. Think. Like hard.

So here goes.
This issue an interesting one -

As I work in a team of people, I realize that there are different working styles of every individual. Some people are process oriented, some people are goal oriented and some people focus on the in between.

I belong to the second category. Give me a goal and a timeline, and I will achieve it. I will do everything in my power to get from A to B, convince anyone, get any data and even pull out rabbits out of a hat. On the other hand. But I will do it my way, my time. And I will do it within the deadline. I think its comes from years of consulting and being out in the field and being a researcher.
On the other hand, I've had coworkers who do a ton of what I would like to categorise as "busy work" work which has to get done but doesnt really have any end goal or big picture attached to it. But they will meticulously come to work everyday before other people show up. Work all 8 hours that they are present. Now, interestingly, in a big company where all gets lost unless you arctually putting a significant dent into the bottomline, my coworker's approach is much appreciated.
How companies make billions of dollars where the clocking determines meritrocacy is beyond me. Furthermore, how do different people with different working styles ever reach a consensus and how do you make sure everyone is rewarded according to their own style?
For me the reward is the work itself. Because I do have some kind a strategic goal that I am working towards. I am not particularly thrilled when all I am doing is "busy" work.

And finally, if I ever start my own company, I want to build an attitude and a workplace where everyone is goal oriented and you work in whatever style you are comfortable with. Obviously, it means that if you are a sales guy you cant show up after everyone's left and cold call your customer. But I think, a workplace that encourages creativity all around the clock is the one thats most successful. On a side note, I think thats the reason America as a nation fosters creativity for this very reason.

What do you think?
